SCOTT LUHRS

Hello Everyone,

How’s the depths of winter treating you? You still holding on to the giddiness of starting fresh in the new year? Has the rubber hit the road? I’ve gone through 4 new selves already and it’s not even Valentine’s Day. I don’t know what’s necessarily wrong with the self I am right now, but by gum I’m going to reinvent it. Not in a David Bowie, “I’m the White Duke now” kind of vibe, or a Garth Brooks, “I’m this Chris Gaines dude with hair” thing. It’s more of me cleaning up after myself like a grown human. Emailing people back because that’s considerate. You know. Less self-absorption. More color coding.

I'm trying to write a new record folks. It’s coming slowly. The key is to trick myself into writing and not fall off into distraction. Does anyone out there have a cabin in the woods with slow internet (or no internet) so I can get this thing DONE? Right now I’m trying to work through the self-centered themes, and move on to anything else, like war, fa

mine, disease, but with a danceable beat. Kidding, just trying to break the rut. I’ll get back to you on that next week.

But This week on the program we Have Scott Luhrs, a Los Angeles based comedian who happened to be my college roommate. DIG THAT! We try not to get too inside jokey, but it’s a great talk. Wonderful to catch up with him and how life’s been treating him. You can check out his twitter for shows and info HERE:

@LuhrsMan

As always, thanks for listening. Continue to spread the word about the show, I love and appreciate all the positive feedback (and if you’ve been listening long enough, you know I NEED IT)

JONATHAN KITE

Hello All,       Are you frozen? Beating your way through the tundra of abandoned mid-size sedans to get sundries and victuals at your local McMegaMart?
Are you part of this polar vortex? Or are you one of those smug Californians (ME) Who raises his glass of pulverized kale juice to the many crisped to solid ice on our nation's rougher coast? Can you smell my smug sense of sun-drenched entitlement? Do you hate me? Well don't, when an apocalyptic earthquake cuts off my water supply you can laugh over your plate of authentic Sicilian (Fill in name of that thing you always get).  That's enough talk about the weather, I am not 80.

We're coming up to awards season. This is my Football season. I could care less about what happens in the realms of professional sports. I've tried. I watch the Super Bowl for commercials and Halftime. I become visibly upset if I have to sit through a live game. I'd rather watch paint dry. But I do love movies. I love them more than food. And I was a fat kid. So this is my Super Bowl, my March Madness, my World Series. I root for my teams, I have favorites, I compose fantasy teams. The whole kit. Last night was the golden globes. As I type this Sunday Afternoon, I'm ACTUALLY EXCITED!

Now I know that these shows are symbolic vague forms of self-congratulation veiled in pomp and circumstance meant to instill a sense of reverence for an industry rife with corruption seeking money at the cost of human decency, BUT IT'S FUUUUUUUN!

I'll climb up on my high horse named after Marshall McCluhan after I find out who won best picture.

This week on the podcast we have actor/comedian Jonathan Kite, a master impressionist best known for his role on the sitcom "Two Broke Girls". We talk about growing up outside of Chicago, working within sketch comedy, and remaining a student of life. Great Talk.

ARI HERSTAND

Good Gravy.
I've lost any and all resolve at these Holiday Parties. I eat and eat and eat. It's like I enter this strange drone like state wherein calories don't count and I can have as much of the cheese plate as I want without any consequences. (cut to later that night when my wife wants to divorce me for methane emissions).
I have to make this brief as this week has decided to explode with responsibilty. Thank you all so much for the great feedback on these last few shows. I'm honored to have your attention in these frenetic times.

This week we have the DIY master Ari Herstand on the show. Do yourself a favor and check him out on the web after you get done listening to this episode, Hell, maybe even during this episode, you're good at multi-tasting right?

ERIK KERTES

Happy Holidays Everyone.

There. I put it out there. SOMEONE had to say it. Geez.

Do you find yourself beleaguered by the infinite tide of greed? Do you feel a bit overwhelmed by the thought of buying everyone things you can’t afford to force your

unsaid mountain of emotion into a purchase? Me neither. I am a beacon of peace on earth.

Total Lie. Look I get it, It’s cool for me to complain about the gross over-commercialization of the Holidays. It’s my role in this world, dissent incorporated. But

If I have to be honest with myself, I’m overwhelmed because I want to buy everyone everything, I don’t want to risk the chance that they’d feel like I don’t love them for all they are. I worry about them buying me a speak-to-the-heart-crushingly-perfect gift and I’d be standing there with a gift card to a grocery store chain that’s not even near their  house but I got it because it was close to mine.

I’ll admit, I’m not the best gift giver. I get anxiety over it, oh really Jake? You? Anxious?

I’m going to be a wreck until December  26th. I’ve come to accept it. But don’t let my worry keep you from giving the best gift of all! That’s right people! Jake Newton Merchandise is 30% Off at the official online store www.jakenewton.com (I am my own favorite shill) for the Month of December. Get over there and give you or someone you love the gift of me singing words, or a t-shirt with my name on it.

This week on SharkBrain we have the ever talented and entertaining Erik Kertes on the show. We talk about growing up in LA, Jazz music elitism, and being a good hang. Thanks so much for giving this a listen,  be sure to leave a comment and/or subscribe to the email list.

Don’t go crazy out there.

Good gravy.  We made it. If you're reading this you lived through Thanksgiving. and If you're not American you may be wondering what I'm talking about. Every year, during Thanksgiving, Americans decide to do something different and proceed to eat too much. In this I am thoroughly American. I hate me right now. I hate me so hard. But Tomorrow is another day and I will transcend. For now I will sit here and rub cocoa butter on my stretch marks.

Phil's a great guy with a better head on his shoulders than you or I. Maybe, I dunno. LISTEN!!!
As you'll hear in my intro, I'm on an exceptional amount of caffeine
at the moment and don't feel as though I can truly elicidate how great it was to have
phil in the studio. We talk about the finer points of finding your inner voice, and
how insidious comfort can be when it stands in the way of your artistic calling.
